#33: The first 60 days of the Trump presidency. A look at the markets and where we're at now.

The initial weeks and months of the Trump presidency have had investors on an emotional roller coaster with markets reacting to on-again, off-again tariffs.

To help people navigate these uncertain times, I reached out to Neil Linsdell, vice-president of Investment Strategy for Raymond James Canada.

On March 25th we recorded this bilingual webinar on the First 60 days of the Trump presidency.  I’m delighted to share our chat in this podcast edition.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • The policies and platform that got Donald Trump elected.
  • The state of the US economy and the market when he came into power.
  • An overview of the executive orders that have been made in the last months.
  • The tariffs being placed and how they are playing out in the markets.
  • The effects of tariffs on the Canadian economy.
  • The likelihood of the tariffs causing inflation or a recession.
  • How international markets are doing well so far this year.
  • How investors should position their portfolios to weather the storm.
